A group of tourists were terrorized in Pahalgam, a well-known site in Jammu and Kashmir, and there is a fear of further casualties. Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department claims that at least 12 people are injured after the disaster.

Early reports indicated that a group of gunmen attacked the part of the region who came for a trekking tour. Special military forces have been sent in after the attack was reported.

What An Eyewitness Has To Say

An eyewitness has come forward, however, her identity is kept undisclosed. According to a report by PTI, this woman stated in a call that her spouse was shot in the head and injured during the whole ordeal.

Statements taken on television show that the gunmen even shot certain foreigners. The attackers also demanded some of the tourists to state their identity before they set loose the bullets which adds even greater intensity to the already aggravated crime.

Omar Abdullah Condemns the Attack on Social Media

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Abdullah has condemned the incident in a post he made on the social media site X. He shared his sentiments of outrage and grief which were as follows:

"I can’t believe what I am hearing. This brutalization of our tourists is beyond understanding. The kind of people who commit such acts are subhuman & deserve nothing less than disgust. My condolences go out to the relatives of the victims and there is no adequate condemnation that can suffice for this.”
