ICC ODI Rankings Update: The dominance of Team India’s players continues in the ICC rankings. Last week, not only Indian players but not many matches were played anywhere. Despite this, ICC has released its new rankings. India’s star players have managed to retain their place in the ODI batsmen’s rankings. Three of the top 5 batsmen are from Team India.
Babar Azam is still the number one batsman, Rohit Sharma is number two
The new ODI rankings released by the ICC still have Babar Azam of Pakistan at the number one position. His rating is 824. It is another matter that Babar has not played any ODI match for the last eight months, yet he is still in the number one position. But after this, Indian players have been occupying three consecutive positions.
Shubhaman Gill also ranked third in the ICC rankings
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma is in second place in the ICC ODI rankings. His rating is currently 765. He is getting closer to Babar Azam, but to beat him, Rohit Sharma will have to play some more big innings in ODIs. After this, Shubman Gill is at number three. His rating is 763. That means there is very little difference between the ratings of Rohit and Shubman. When these two will play, a good battle will be seen between them regarding the rankings.
Virat Kohli’s magic also continues
Former captain Virat Kohli has retained his position at number four. His rating is 746. Ireland’s Harry Tractor also has the same rating, so he is jointly at number four with Kohli. The special thing is that the Indian team will not play any ODI match this year. When the England team will tour India early next year, then these three players will be seen in action.
There will be a change in the Test rankings next week
This time, there is no major change in the ranking and rating of the top 10. The reason for this is also the lack of matches. Right now the teams are more focused on Test and T20. But last week there were no matches in that format, so there are no changes there either. Now the Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is starting from today i.e. 21st August. England and Sri Lanka will also face each other for the first Test. In such a situation, it is expected that a lot of impact will be seen in the Test ranking next week.
