Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has called upon both India and Pakistan to de-escalate the situation and settle their differences diplomatically. This was made clear after India undertook Operation Sindoor, which included a number of surgical strikes on terror infrastructure within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and other areas of Pakistan.

In the Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs account on X, the account urged both militaries to restrain from further conflict, stating that "any military escalation is a significant risk in the interest of the region”. This statement serves as a call towards using diplomacy and peace as avenues to settle the differences.

Strained Regional Relations and Shifting Alignments

There has been increasing strain between the Taliban and Pakistan concerning Islamabad’s security worries and the deportation of tens of thousands of Afghan nationals since the early days of April. Although the Taliban has not been officially recognized by India, there have been growing synergetic relations advanced by the regime in Kabul since they came into power in 2021.

Pakistan Condemns the Strikes, India Justifies the Military Action

The foreign office in council for Pakistan condemned India’s decision, branding them as “unjustified” and a violation of boundary sovereignty. The armed forces of Pakistan claim that the strikes caused 26 deaths and 46 injuries.

Nevertheless, India argued that the strikes were both proportional and contained essential terrorist infrastructure, such as that of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Indian defence officials characterized the operation as “measured” and “non-escalatory” regarding further military escalation within the region.

In the remarks of his speech, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that the measures were justified given the inaction by Pakistan to remove the terrorist networks after the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
