Accused of the Mumbai terrorist attacks: Tahawwur Rana has petitioned to the US supreme court for a stay on his extradition to India. He pointed out several reasons, including his health, and said that extradition to India is nothing short of torture.
“There will be no review at all if a stay is not granted, the US courts will lose jurisdiction, and the petitioner will soon be dead,” said the man who is 63 years old.
Rana, who is currently in a prison in Los Angeles, is believed to hold links with the LeT terrorist David Headley, who was one of the main conspirators for the 26/11 attacks.
The accused, who is a Muslim of Pakistani descent, wrote this statement, which is probable to invite more trouble for him. His legal team argued, “He cannot be dispatched into a hornets' nest where he would be indicated to as a target of national, religious, and cultural hostility.”
In this petition, he proclaimed that he suffers from multiple illnesses, including, but not limited to, Parkinson's dementia, possible bladder cancer, and a 3.5 cm abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Rana’s extradition to India was sanctioned by Trump while he was giving a press conference with our Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the white house.
During the press conference with the Prime Minister I stated, Trump said, I would like to inform that my administration has sanctioned the extradition of one of the masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks as well as one of the most notorious men alive, the creepy Tahawwur Rana. "And guess what? Tahawwur Rana will indeed be returning to India, and cont these awful deeds for which he will reap the repercussions."
