Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, commonly known as Apni Party, has announced the names of 24 more candidates for the assembly elections. These candidates will face their opponents in the second and third phases of elections. The name of Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari is also included in the list and he will contest from Channapora assembly seat. Let us tell you that in these elections, the Apni Party will face the BJP, PDP, and Congress-National Conference alliance.
Ashraf Mir entered the field from Lal Chowk
For the second and third phases of assembly elections, his party has fielded Mohammad Ashraf Mir from Lal Chowk, Zafar Habib Shah from Central-Shalteng, Mohammad Ashraf Palpori from Eidgah, Syed Muzaffar Rizvi from Bhirwah, Riyaz Bhadana from Khan Sahib, Ghulam Hassan Mir from Gulmar, Yawar Dilawar Mir from Rafiabad, Ghulam Mohammad War from Sopore, Shabbir Ahmed Lone from Baramulla, Riyaz Ahmed Sheikh from Pattan, Shabbir Ahmed Shah from Wagoora Kreeri and Imtiyaz Ahmed Parray from Sonawari.

At the same time, the Apni Party has given tickets to Raja Manzoor from Karna, Mohammad Amin Bhat from Kupwara, Abdul Rahim Wani from Lolab, Doctor Noor-ud-Din Shah from Trehgam, Mohammad Munawwar Khwaja from Langate, Manjit Singh from Vijaypur, Advocate Sahil Bharti from Ramgarh, Advocate Lovely Mangol from Samba (SC), Chaudhary Yasir Ali from Bani, Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah from Rajouri (ST) and Shah Mohammad Tantre from Poonch Haveli. Voting will be held on September 18, September 25, and October 1 while the counting of votes will take place on October 4.
What was the number of seats in the 2014 elections?
No party got a clear majority in the 2014 assembly elections. In those elections, PDP emerged as the largest party by winning 28 seats while BJP won 25 seats. National Conference won 15 seats in those elections while Congress also won 12 seats. Apart from these, the Jammu Kashmir People’s Conference won 2 seats, CPM won 1 seat, JKPDF won 1 seat and independents won 3 seats.
