Kanpur (UP): After the Supreme Court put a brake on the bulldozer action, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday targeted the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying that the court has parked the bulldozers in the garage forever. Akhilesh also claimed that in the name of bulldozer action, the houses of the poor are being demolished. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, while addressing a public meeting here in support of SP candidate Naseem Solanki for the by-election to be held on November 20 on the Sisamau seat, praised the harsh remarks of the Supreme Court on the bulldozer policy.

The houses of the poor were being demolished.

Akhilesh said, “In the name of bulldozer action, the houses of the poor were being demolished. Now the Supreme Court has banned illegal demolition of houses.” He said that the way bulldozers were used in Ayodhya was the reason for the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections. The by-election on the Milkipur assembly seat was also postponed. Now the Supreme Court has issued a big order. This will stop the bulldozer action. Taking a dig at the Yogi government’s bulldozer action ‘model’, the SP chief said, “Due to the Supreme Court’s decision, the bulldozer has stood in the garage forever. There can be no bigger comment than what the apex court said. I congratulate and thank the Supreme Court.” He said that there are some cases in which the court has also imposed a fine on the government for such action.

are busy harassing the students

Akhilesh also strongly raised the issue of the ongoing student protests in Prayagraj. He said that those who (BJP) cannot provide employment are engaged in harassing the students. Targeting the BJP, he said, “Those who made the wrong question paper and printed the question paper in the wrong manner are none other than the people of the BJP. The people who got the exam canceled from the date of the exam are also from the BJP.” He also attacked the BJP on the issue of inflation. He said that the BJP government has pushed the people into the ‘quagmire of inflation’. The Sisamau seat has fallen vacant due to the termination of the assembly membership of SP MLA Irfan Solanki after he was sentenced in a criminal case. That is why a by-election is being held for this seat. The SP has fielded Irfan’s wife Naseem Solanki as its candidate. The by-election will be held on November 20 and the counting of votes will be held on November 23. By-elections are also being held on eight other seats of the state on the same day.

‘If we divide, we will be cut’, the worst slogan in history

The SP chief slammed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s slogan of ‘Bantenge toh Katenge’, saying, “It is unconstitutional and the worst slogan in history.” Attacking the law and order situation in the state, he said the police, which earlier used to catch thieves, are now busy catching policemen. He also gave the example of Varanasi where a police inspector was suspended after a video clip went viral. In the video, he was seen coming out of an apartment in a khaki uniform carrying two bags of cash. He also criticized the Kanpur police for extorting money from ‘innocent’ people during the violence in June 2022. He said the Kanpur District Magistrate did not know how an 8-10 feet deep pit was dug and the body was buried there.

The SP chief claimed that Irfan Solanki had been implicated in false cases and was transferred to Maharajganj jail only because he used to meet him in Kanpur district jail. Without naming anyone, Yadav also accused the BJP of staging a fake encounter in Sultanpur. Pointing to the recent communal violence in Bahraich, Akhilesh said, “The BJP is guilty and responsible for the riots that are taking place. The riots were caused by BJP workers. BJP workers themselves filed cases against BJP workers for inciting riots. To divert attention from basic issues, BJP workers instigate riots. They spread hatred. The public will never accept the negative politics of the BJP. BJP leaders do not have development lines in their hands. They have destructive lines in their hands.”
