Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Get ready for a high-octane dose of laughter and thrills as comedy icon Eddie Murphy, versatile star Keke Palmer, and 'SNL' alum Pete Davidson are set to share the screen in the upcoming action-comedy, "The Pickup." The film, greenlit by Amazon MGM Studios, is slated for an exclusive premiere on Prime Video, further cementing Murphy's successful collaboration with the streaming giant following "Coming 2 America."
While plot specifics are still emerging, "The Pickup" reportedly centers on Murphy's character, who becomes entangled with a woman, leading to a classic case of mistaken identity and a consequently wild and chaotic heist. The project is poised to blend Murphy's legendary comedic timing with high-stakes action sequences.
Tim Story, known for directing hits like "Ride Along" and "Barbershop: The Next Cut" (which also starred Keke Palmer), is reportedly in discussions to direct the feature. If finalized, this would mark a reunion for Story and Palmer.
Eddie Murphy will not only star but also produce the film under his Eddie Murphy Productions banner, alongside Charisse Hewitt-Webster. John Davis and John Fox will also produce for Davis Entertainment.
The casting brings together a dynamic trio: Murphy, a global comedy superstar; Palmer, who has recently garnered acclaim for roles in "Nope" and "Hustlers," showcasing her wide-ranging talent; and Davidson, recognized for his distinctive comedic voice on "Saturday Night Live" and in films like "The King of Staten Island."
