The Indian women’s shooting trio delivered a formidable display at the firing ranges to capture the silver medal in the competitive 50m rifle 3 positions team event. Alongside the podium finish, India saw two of its top marks-women, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod, qualify for the individual finals, keeping hopes alive for additional continental silverware. While India came within striking distance of contending for team gold, challenging standing series for Ashi Chouksey ultimately sealed the second spot on the podium behind powerhouse China.
Individual Finalists Emerge: Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod Secure Top Spots
The qualifying rounds witnessed sharp precision from the young Indian shooters, who held their composure across the kneeling, prone, and standing positions:
Tilottama Sen Takes Third: Shooting with exceptional consistency, Tilottama Sen registered stellar scores of 97 and 98 in her standing series to compile an aggregate score of 590 points, qualifying in third position directly behind two Chinese shooters who posted scores of 594 and 591.
Vidarsa Vinod’s Gritty Comeback: Recovering remarkably from a testing 193 in the kneeling stage, Vidarsa delivered twin scores of 98 in her standing round to finish with a robust total of 588 points, earning qualification in sixth position for the individual final.
Double Threat for India: With both Sen and Vinod qualifying among the top eight, the Indian camp placed two shooters into the final shootout, boosting individual medal prospects.
Team Podium Decider: Ashi Chouksey’s Fight in the Standing Position
The combined team standings came down to the final series, where the fine margins between gold and silver were decided on the target targets:
