On the second last game of the Champions Trophy Group B, South Africa intends to continue dominating and guarantee qualification into the semi finals by beating sluggish England. In Group A India and New Zealand already have secured a berth in the semi finals, and from Group B Australia, South Africa and Afghanistan are all fighting for it.
South Africa looks desperate for the semi finals
Afghanistan not only eliminated England from the prospect of reaching the semifinals, but she also advanced her own chances by defeating them in a nail-biting match by 8 runs. The South Africa vs. Australia game has been canceled because of rain. Currently these two teams have 3 points each, India and New Zealand have 2 points, and English team has suffered defeats in all of their matches.
Africa Has a Slight Edge Over England
South Africa leads by a narrow margin against England in a match that looks competitive. Its team appears to be in form and has done well in all three disciplines while most of the players are in good form too. Conversely, the English team seems too reliant on Joe Root for runs. However, South Africa's team has only played one match to date in this rain reduced tournament and that was a lopsided encounter against Afghanistan, which South Africa won emphatically by 107 runs.

In this match, Ryan Rickelton scored a century while Temba Bavuma, Rassi van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram scored 50s. South Africa batted first and scored 315 for six and bowled out Afghanistan for 208 runs.

The South Africans have a complain that they have a strong team for every ICC tournament but struggle to perform in the past one year. In the last 12 ODI matches, South Africa had to face defeat in 8 of them.
There is discernible fear for England
South Africa could not reach the finals of the tri series held in Pakistan before the Champions Trophy. Jos Buttler, who is in charge of the English team, will desperately want to finish on a high so that the team has a proper send-off after the tournament.
England may as well give in to despair and accept their shame.
Before heading into the goals, any feared to await Root’s batting confidence parade. Their losing streak has extended to three ODI series matches against India, and that is placing them pretty low within the global pecking order of ODI cricketing nations.
The reality is that the bowlers provided Australia with their first win.
In England’s most recent outing against Afghanistan, Root racked up 120 runs. Unfortunately, the rest of his team was not able to make up a sizable total. England were clobbered by Australia in their opening match.
