The extraordinary abode of the Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan, Mannat, is reported to have started its renovation preparations at the beginning of the year but there appear to be some complications involved.
Some renovations seemed in order, but social activist Santosh Daundkar has alleged a plethora of infractions and has called on the NGT to intervene and halt the activity.
Moreover, it has been reported that Shah Rukh Khan together with his wife Gauri and children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, will no longer be living at their residence and will instead be shifting to a new rented property for the next two years.
Bar & Bench reported that on Monday, Santosh Daundkar filed an allegation against Shah Rukh Khan alongside the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) for malpractices when trying to obtain the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance. This permit is crucial to performing any sort of renovations to Mannat.
Because the Mannat bungalow is classified as a Grade III heritage structure, there are strict infractions to any form of structural alterations without the proper documents.
It is understood that Khan SR is planning to increase the height of the six-storey bungalow by two floors, making it an eight-storey structure.
Alongside these claims, the activist’s appeal argues that the prominent actor has perpetrated fraud by converting a “number of 1-BHK flats for mass housing” meant for multiple families into a single unit residence.
The NGT solicited proof for the allegations from Santosh Daundkar. Project Proponents, MCZMA, and appellants alike have been forewarned in regards to submitting evidence which supports their claims as failing to do so might result in this tribunal dismissing the appeal for non-compliance. In the words of Dinesh Kumar Singh and Vijay Kulkarni, “we would be left with no option but to dismiss the present appeal for non-compliance of the order of this Tribunal, at the stage of admission itself.” \line\line The next step in this process will take place on the 23rd of April.
