Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a candid and rare revelation, Selena Gomez explained the steps she took to heal after her highly public breakup with fellow pop star, Justin Bieber. Gomez and her fiancé, music producer Benny Blanco, attended the Table Manners podcast hosted by Jessie and Lennie Ware, which featured Gomez as a guest.
During the show, Gomez shared her reflections on the period of time she spent single, healing and eventually falling in love, telling her fiancé: “I hadn’t liked anybody in a long, long time,” remarking in disbelief and vulnerability about her strong feelings for Benny.
From Solitude to Stability: Life After Bieber
Gomez has shared how throughout her turbulent on-again, off-again relationship with Bieber, she had remained single for nearly five years after their final breakup in 2018. The singer went on numerous dates and even dated people, but none of the relationships felt real or satisfying. Josh’s friendship with Benny Blanco dramatically changed things for her in 2023. The two got engaged in December 2024.
“Some kisses are antics,” she added on the podcast, “but when there is emotion involved in one, it is different. I was somewhat embarrassed because I had not felt this way in such a long time.”
Looking Back While Moving Forward
Gomez is quite protective of her private life, but she opened up about her past relationship’s scars in her 2022 documentary My Mind & Me. She reflected on the split from Bieber as “the best thing that ever happened,” and explained how it helped her regain control over her emotional health.
The couple's nearly decade-long romance “Jelena” as dubbed by fans, set the world ablaze between 2010 and 2018. However Gomez’s focus seems to be on sustainable growth, healing, and balance, which she has prioritized now.
A New Chapter With Benny Blanco
Now engaged, Gomez and Blanco seem to have transitioned into a warm supportive relationship. The pair drew headlines for attending the 2025 Oscars where their affection and longtime friendship turned into public romance.
After the engagement, Gomez posted on Insta declaring, "Forever begins now," signaling the start of a new chapter in her life which she associates with emotional stability and personal growth.
