Lakhs of rupees disappeared from a woman’s account
Recently a case of a scratch card scam came to light in which a woman became a victim of fraud. According to the report, a scratch card was sent to a woman living in Thiruvananthapuram through a courier service. The woman is asked to scratch this scratch card. In which the woman has a chance to win lakhs of rupees.
When the woman scratches the card, she wins Rs 8 lakh. After this, she is asked to call the number given on the card. People start getting trapped in the trap of cyber criminals from the step of making the call itself. When the woman calls the given number, she is told that the prize money will soon be transferred to her bank account but before that, she will have to pay processing fees and some taxes.
The woman followed the process told by the cyber criminals on call and slowly Rs 23 lakhs were stolen from her account. A similar case also came to light from Bangalore. Here a woman got a scratch card in which it was said that she would win Rs 15.51 lakhs. The woman called on the given number and gave her personal details and ID proof, after which lakhs of rupees were stolen from her account.
How to avoid Scratch Card Scam
- If you have got any kind of scratch card then you do not need to react on it.
- Let us tell you that there is no need to pay any kind of payment or tax on the prize received in a lottery or any scratch card. If you are being asked to pay tax then it could be a fraud.
- If you have received a scratch card and you have any kind of doubt, then you should confirm who has sent it. Also, know the process of redeeming the scratch card from the official of the company that sent it.
- Never share personal details or any personal ID to redeem the scratch card prize.
