Scorpio hits railing, then collides with Maruti Brezza, 4 dead; major accident on Araria-Purnia road
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Accident between Scorpio and Maruti Brezza on Araria-Purnia road: Scorpio hit railing then Brezza; 4 dead, many injured. The Scorpio, after it had been trying to escape the cyclist, had lost control and had gone crashing into a railing before it had swerved into the opposite lane, then hitting a Maruti Brezza which had been travelling on that lane. The four in the Brezza, as well as seven in the Scorpio, have been seriously injured.
A serious accident has happened in the Araria district of Bihar and in fact the accident, which has taken place near Kusiyargaon Park on Araria-Purnia road, has really shaken up the region. After the Scorpio, which had apparently been avoiding the cyclist had had been trying to prevent the accident, had lost control and collided with a railing, then swerved across the road and into a vehicle coming from the opposite direction; three of the Scorpio occupants and the cyclist had died instantly, and two women from the Scorpio as well as seven others were seriously injured and transferred to the Sadar hospital in Araria, with some referred to further for better treatment.
In the Scorpio were five individuals on their way to Madhepura to attend theShraddhanof the uncle of one of the passengers, two individuals known to have been aboard; Mayanand Jha, aged seventy and Shanti Devi, aged sixty. Gautam Kumar Thakur, also aged forty-nine and nicknamed Ratu, who lives in Sakma Bishanpur village of the Aamor block of the Purnia district, was also on board, as are several unknown others; but, in the attempt to save a young cyclist who was nearby, the vehicle had hit the bicyclist and veered sharply across the opposite lane before crashing into an approaching Maruti Brezza. Seven people from the Scorpio and four from the Brezza had sustained injuries and were taken to the Sadar hospital in Araria, where two women from the Scorpio were transferred.
However, the Scorpio driver escaped the scene after the accident and locals present there assisted in taking the people to hospital. After the injuries from both vehicles had been examined by physicians and first-aid administered, four bodies were identified as belonging to the cyclist, Mohammad Konan, 25, the son of Wahid, and the three occupants of the Scorpio: Mayanand Jha, Shanti Devi and Gautam Kumar Thakur; he was one of three closely related relatives traveling together. One of those who died in the crash, Gautam, had been a PRS in the MNREGA while among the seven injured are Jawahar Jha, aged sixty, his wife Laxmi Thakur, aged forty-three, his aunt, Madhu Lata Devi, fifty-five, and four other known injured parties currently in the Sadar hospital.
The relative of two of the deceased, Jawahar Jha, has since reported to local authorities that he, the wife and a friend of his had all been on their way to Ramnagar to attend the funeral of their uncle at that location. The city and traffic police have taken possession of the four bodies and taken them for autopsies. The investigation into the incident is currently under way, with reports suggesting that speeding by the Scorpio driver was a major contributing factor, and several members of the victim's families are overcome with grief in the hospital.
