Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is popularly known for films like, Arjun Reddy and Animal, is in the limelight now for a rather controversial social media post aimed towards an undisclosed Bollywood actor. The post seems to hint at trouble brewing off-his-director’s-cut with his next film Spirit featuring Prabhas.
In his message, Vanga accused the actor of trust violation in affairs such as “dirty PR games,” referring to them leaking significant details about the film. The post went viral very quickly especially after reports surfaced regarding Deepika Padukone pulling out of the project due to creative and contractual stipulations claiming she exited the project.
Responses to Vanga from The Industry
Vanga, on X (formerly Twitter) had this to share on his account:
“When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us. But when you do this with ‘DISCLOSE’ the person that you are… Putting down a younger actor and my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?”
With the initial post, he called out the person who allegedly let go of the film’s vision wishing forgiveness for being described with emotional rhetoric aimed towards someone acting unlike his intended audience.
“You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You’re never going to get it,” was comment number three.
Vanga ended the discussion using a Hindi phrase and took a small jab:
As Vanga ended his statement, he added, “Aisa karo… Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha (You know what? Reveal the full story next time. I really don’t care)… #dirtyPRgames. I like this proverb very much – Khundak mein billi khamba niche (An embarrassed cat scratches the pole).”
The unconfirmed news of Deepika Padukone’s exit has certainly fueled the fire.
Reports indicate that Deepika Padukone might have walked away from the lead role in Spirit due to alleged concerns surrounding the script, scheduling, pay, and profit-sharing. It was shocking for many that her withdrawal came considering she was said to be the highest-paid actor in the cast.
With the production team sticking to their decision of casting Triptii Dimri, who was last seen in Animal, as the female lead, this marks another major win for Dimri in Indian cinema.
What to expect from Spirit.
Along with its expected high-energy cop drama, Spirit is also expected to be Vanga’s next and major release following the blockbuster success of Animal. There are also rumors circulating that Korean actor Don Lee might be cast in the movie, although that has not been confirmed yet.
When it comes to the movie, controversy did not change a thing as it still remains one of the biggest talking points in the industry with fans impatiently awaiting updates on the full cast and production schedule.
Everything in the spirit continues to attract more and more attention with Prabhas spearheading the project and Triptii Dimri joining them. Vanga’s social media commentary has sparked even more discussions, showcasing the film's publicity while highlighting the latent politics that dictate the machinery of Bollywood filmmaking which was infamously mentioned by the director.
