Salman Khan, currently preparing for his return to the big screen with Sikandar, revealed he suffered a rib fracture during filming last September. Despite the injury, he continued shooting without delay, returning to the set the next day to film a song.
In a conversation with Aamir Khan and director A.R. Murugadoss, Salman recounted the incident, explaining that he couldn’t sit, stand, or laugh due to the pain. Rather than letting the injury affect the choreography, he incorporated the motion of holding his ribs into the routine, creating a new step that the dance troupe adopted.
Turning Injury into Creativity on Set
“There are four songs in the film. In one of the songs, I broke my ribs and shot for it the next day,” Salman said. “In one of the steps, I’m holding my ribs—we made that into a step. All the dancers followed it.”
Aamir Khan playfully asked Murugadoss who the better dancer and action star was between the two Khans. Avoiding a direct answer, the director eventually sided with Salman, referencing his rib injury as proof of his commitment.
Director A.R. Murugadoss Praises Salman’s Emotional Range
Murugadoss praised Salman’s ability to deliver intense emotional performances, especially his capacity to cry without glycerine. He noted how challenging it is to act silently while crying during close-up shots, something Salman reportedly managed with ease.
Security Challenges During Filming
Filming Sikandar involved significant logistical challenges due to security concerns, including ongoing threats against Salman Khan. Murugadoss explained that many scenes were shot at real locations, such as railway stations, often at night, and under tight security due to large public gatherings.
Salman added that outdoor shoots required careful coordination due to the crowds and threats, but he credited divine grace for the successful completion of filming without incident.
