RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has recently concluded a high-intensity tour across key Uttar Pradesh cities—Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Lakhimpur Kheri. The visit initiates a full-scale organisational drive aimed at reinforcing grassroots engagement and aligning with the BJP’s electoral strategy for the 2027 state elections.

In a closed-door meeting in Lucknow with senior pracharaks and office-bearers, Bhagwat instructed teams to reconnect with swayamsevaks who had become inactive. Volunteers have been assigned the task of reaching out to these individuals, with a focus on re-engaging them in daily operations and ideological activities.

Expanding Shakhas and Strengthening Rural Presence

Bhagwat emphasized the need to increase the number of daily shakhas, particularly in villages where RSS has limited presence. According to senior leader Bholendra, only 80% of the existing cadre is currently active. “We need all hands on deck, especially ahead of our centenary celebrations,” he said.

Community Engagement and Social Unity Focus in Varanasi

During a four-day stop in Varanasi, Bhagwat interacted with local residents and students at IIT-BHU. At a gathering in Rajputana Shakha, he reiterated the RSS’s stance on social harmony, urging Hindus to eliminate caste-based barriers. “All Hindus should share the same temples, water sources, and cremation grounds,” he said.

Door-to-Door Outreach with Griha Sampark Abhiyan

The Sangh will launch the Griha Sampark Abhiyan from November 5 to 30. This campaign will involve volunteers visiting households to distribute literature about the RSS’s history and mission, fostering deeper ideological connections at the local level.

Economic Concerns Take Centre Stage in Policy Meeting

In a parallel meeting in Lucknow, the RSS economic cell, led by Krishna Gopal, focused on unemployment, inflation, and economic instability. Ground-level feedback highlighted youth concerns over job scarcity in small towns and rural regions. These concerns have been communicated to the government, with a push for more effective employment schemes and small business support.

Joint Strategy Planning with BJP in Ghaziabad

RSS and BJP leaders also met in Ghaziabad to plan coordinated messaging and election strategies. Key points included mobilisation of core social groups like OBCs and Dalits, addressing ideological topics, and responding to Hindu issues globally. BJP vice-president Vijay Bahadur Pathak confirmed alignment on protecting Hindu interests and maintaining unity.

Post-2024 Recalibration and Early Preparation

Following its reduced performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections—where the BJP’s UP tally dropped from 62 to 33 seats—the party is now focused on early groundwork. Internal BJP elections and coordination on sensitive religious issues, including Kashi and Mathura, are on the agenda.

A senior RSS functionary highlighted the importance of strategic alignment between the Sangh and the BJP, particularly on cultural matters. He cited general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale’s endorsement of the VHP’s efforts in Kashi and Mathura, while cautioning against unnecessary controversies.
