Inaugurating the new office of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad located in New Delhi on Deendayal Marg was RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. This event followed the building's Vastu Pooja which occurred a few days earlier.
The internal BJP discussions regarding the selection of a new national president is what seems to be drawing many people’s eyes towards Bhagwat’s visit considering its timing.
BJP President Election Process in Focus
The norm within the BJP suggests that a new national president is selected only after a specific number of organizational state-level activities, referred to as organizational elections, have been conducted in at least half the state units. Some of these units have completed the process while others are still waiting, further appointments will speed up the process of selection.
The new figurehead of the party is expected after these are resolved. With JP Nadda currently holding the position of the party president, his tenure was extended to allow him to administrate during the ensuing general elections, but his successor remains undecided.
Bhagwat On Social Heritage and Unity
In his recent public addresses, Mohan Bhagwat pointed out the necessity of social cohesion in the Hindu society. He motivated the use of public property like temples, wells, and even cremation yards without regard to caste divisions.
Moreover, he spoke about moral values as well as cultural traditions urging people to participate in the celebration of festivals of their culture in order to strengthen and foster patriotism.
