Rohit Sharma has dismissed any uncertainty regarding his career, of which there was plenty recently. After India’s successful Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, he made it clear: “I am not going to retire,” he added, while speaking at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday night.

“He elaborated on the point suo motto. “One more thing, I am not going to retire from this format so that there is clarity and no rumors are spread,” Rohit who has led India in four ICC trophy finals including two victories added.”

In fact, it was more of an announcement than a response to a question. Rohit’s media spin was simply aimed at reinforcing the point that stepping away from the game in not an option, and he is looking forward to more cricket.

While taking an indirect part of another of the set questions, he was responding in Hindi and one could make out there was complete confidence saying things will continue normal without any shifts. “Future plan? There is no future plan. What is going on will continue,” and to his left, a belly full of grey hair chuckled in amusement Rohit-suggesting there seems slender remains of football in his life clearly meant alluding to complete him remains strong.

He accumulated 180 runs in the Champions Trophy and surpassed 11,000 runs in the tournament. In 273 ODIs, he has 11,168 runs, with an average of 48.76, 32 centuries, and 3 double centuries to his name.

He compared retirement options during the Trophy with the speculation that he would leave as he did after the T20 World Cup in Barbados in June. After winning the title in the T20 World Cup, he announced his retirement from the T20 format.

While there has been talk about Kohli taking that step, he has performed well in the Trophy after not scoring runs for a long time. Throughout five matches, he has scored 218 runs with one being a century. Like Rohit, he also retired from T20Is in Barbados last June.
