Suspense Crime, Digital Desk :  Former Union Minister RCP Singh joined Jan Suraaj Party on Sunday in Bihar. The state is expected to hold Assembly elections later this year. Singh also announced the merging of his political outfit ‘Aap Sabki Awaz’ which he formed in November 2024, with Jan Suraaj Party.

Prashant Kishor Welcomes the Merger

The merger was in the presence of founder of Jan Suraaj Party, Prashant Kishor, who welcomed Singh’s statement, “Together we will work towards making Bihar a developed state.”

RCP Singh’s Bureaucratic and Political Background

Singh, who hails from Nalanda, the birthplace of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was an IAS officer from UP cadre. Singh’s association with Kumar dates back to 1999 when he served as Union Railway Minister. After Kumar became the Chief Minister of the state in 2005, he appointed Singh as Principal Secretary, due to his impressive administrative capabilities.

From JD(U) Leadership To Union Cabinet And BJP

In 2010, Singh took the bold step of quitting the IAS to join the Janata Dal (United). He served two terms in the Rajya Sabha and later became the party's national president. Conflicts are believed to have arisen between him and Nitish Kumar after he joined the Union Cabinet in 2021. Consequently, Singh was reported to have relinquished the post of JD(U) president and then refused a third term in the Rajya Sabha in 2022.

Recent Political Realignments

After spending a brief period with JD(U), Singh officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2023. These adjustments place Singh in the Jan Suraaj Party under Prashant Kishor’s leadership.
