On August 17, the Sabarmati Express going to Ahmedabad derailed between Kanpur and Bhimsen Junction. Later, the railways found out that the accident happened after the train collided with a heavy object allegedly kept on the tracks by some anti-social elements. Now keeping this incident in mind and to be alert against any kind of conspiracy, the railways have decided to increase patrolling on the tracks. Let’s know the whole matter.
The use of AI is also being considered
According to the information, the Railway Ministry is also considering various AI-based solutions to enhance the safety of tracks around the clock. Railway Board officials have said that the RPF as well as the track maintenance personnel patrol day and night at regular intervals throughout the year and they have become more vigilant after the Sabarmati Express accident.
Night patrolling initiated
A railway official has said that the board from time to time instructs that the tracks should be patrolled 24 hours a day throughout the year. However, ground reports show that night patrolling is not done throughout the year due to a shortage of personnel to maintain the tracks. Regarding the Sabarmati Express accident, an official has also said that night patrolling was not done before this incident, however, it has been started now.
Was a heavy object intentionally placed on the track?
The railway is also investigating whether the heavy object was deliberately placed on the track to disrupt rail operations. Railway officials have said that the provision of night patrolling is to maintain the railway tracks in adverse weather conditions and not to secure them from anti-social activities.
