Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, announced a temporary Easter ceasefire in the Ukraine war. The pause in hostilities will start at 6 p.m. on Friday and end at midnight on Sunday, during which the Russian military will refrain from all active movements.
Peace Plan Suggestion by the United States
The announcement has come after a U.S. peace proposal put forth to European leaders by State Secretary Marco Rubio when he was in Paris. The proposal offers terms on how to step down conflict and sanction Russia if a stable ceasefire is honored.
Details of the announcement
Putin confirmed the truce while speaking on the air with Chief of Staff of Russia, Gerasimov Valery. It has become traditional to make the announced pause in military activity as a standstill simple ‘gesture’ of kindness.
I have just received a report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Today, our forces continued their activity on the territory of the Kursk region and are holding their positions. In the Belgorod region, our warriors have advanced and expanded our zone of control.

What Zelensky said
Ukrainian Head of the State was not very friendly with the comments about the announcement of the ceasefire accusing the Russian Leader of trying to play with the concepts of humanity.
"Regarding yet another ‘attempt’ of Putin — I’d like to save people during his rounds to play with human lives, as air defense systems are being turned on across Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on platform X.
Zelensky on the counter
Helicopter-posted statements were accompanied by other rebuttals aimed at the defenders of freedom and notable skepticism towards Russian troops, encouraging further resistance on the grounds defeat will logically follow.
Considerable Prisoner Exchange on Saturday
The two countries implemented a notable prisoner exchange in which the two countries released 246 prisoners each afterwards.
Ukraine provided medical assistance to 15 Russian soldiers requiring urgent treatment.
In return, Russia released 31 rehabilitated Ukrainian prisoners of war.
This marks one of the largest exchanges made during the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Proposal on Sanctions from the U.S.
Moreover, the stated rationale for the proposal from the United States is that they would ease sanctions on Russia as part of the peace deal. Relief would be contingent upon a verifiable and firm ceasefire.
Informed Position
The United States easterly placed surrender flags as a ceasefire during the self imposed period of observance.
Ukraine still questions the sincerity of Russia's actions.
Both sustain military and diplomatic challenges on both sides.
