In which states will there be a holiday?
The Punjab state government has declared a public holiday for Lord Parshuram Jayanti celebrations irrespective of the day of the week so all government and non-government schools, colleges, and universities in the state will get a holiday. Additionally, RBI (Reserve Bank of India) also observes holidays, thus, the banks in the state of Himachal Pradesh will also be closed on this date. Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan also have a high probability of declaring a state holiday as it is popularly celebrated in elsewhere the state. Other regions in the county can set their own holidays and hence local government and schools in other states with no holidays marked on this period are free to declare holidays depending on how the administrative and educational institution systems alongside local guidelines dictate.
What is closed during the holiday?
Schools and colleges: All Government and private educational institutions will be closed in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Other states, particularly those that celebrate the festival with a lot of fervor, might also have school/college vacations around this time. Banks: Bank branches are closed in Himachal Pradesh as noted in the RBI holiday calendar. However, other banking services such as net banking, banking mobile applications, UPI, and even ATMs will still be operational.
