Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the first-of-its-kind World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) on May 1, 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. In his address to the global audience coming from more than 100 countries, he referred to India as a “storytelling power” and encouraged other stakeholders to tap into the rich cultural and creative resources that India has to offer.

Resetting the Traditional Approach in Art and Technology

His Modi Wave speech started with wishing the people of Maharashtra for Shetti Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti and Gujarat Foundation Day that also fell on the same day before talking about the importance of WAVES. From Raja Harisha Chandra staring Dadasaheb Phalke to Indian India’s contribution to the world through the mega blockbuster RRR, he spoke about every Indian contribution to Garba with a Global touch. An equally engaging mention was of Raj Kapoor, Satyajit Ray, A.R. Rahman, SS Rajamouli and more who grew the face of Indian Cinema and raised its flag globally. Their memories also live on in the stamps issued in their names.

Ecosystem Vision for Worldwide Creators Culture

Modi noted that WAVES in itself is not just an abbreviation but a true representation of cultural unity of cinema and gaming, animation and music “Waves”, That is what it is all about. The aim of the summit is to provide a platform fostering collaboration and creativity from around the world.

He stressed India’s preparedness to become a content and culture epicenter, inviting global imagination to “Create in India, Create for the World.”

Achievements and Initiatives Highlighted

Over 1 lakh creators across 60 nations partook in WAVES’ creative challenges.

800 finalists were selected among 32 competitions.

New initiatives such as the WAVES Bazaar and India Pavilion were created to further deepen market access and international presence.

Announcement of forthcoming WAVES Awards, which are expected to become leading awards in the global art and creativity industry.

India’s Orange Economy and Global Opportunity

Modi identified Content, Creativity and Culture as the foundational aspects of India’s Orange Economy. He pointed out:

India is #1 in fintech adoption.

3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world. 

Indian OTT platforms have increased 10 fold in the past few years.

India’s aspiring professionals have great talent in the $430 billion global animation market.

He urged young imaginers from podcasters in Kochi to filmmakers in Punjab to spearhead the creative revolution. Government support was guaranteed through policies, grants, and platforms like WAVES.

Creative Responsibility and Global Collaboration.

Modi called on the global creative circle to adopt the Crea​tive Responsibility concept. While technology widens in scope, the emotional depth and humanity has to be preserved under art, music, and storytelling.

He cautioned on the use of extreme humane doctrines aimed at children and stressed WAVES as a brand to transform negative influences through imagination and common heritage.

India's Legacy: A Cultural Superpower

Modi mentioned the Indian concepts of Nāda Brahma while bringing attention to the cultural value found in Shiva’s damaru, Krishna’s flute, and Saraswati’s veena.

Moving from folk practices to classical writings, he stated that the narratives of India are global, deeply moving, and transcend cultural boundaries.
