Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently led a high-powered meeting to crack down on delays in major national projects, pushing for the speedy completion of nine crucial infrastructure initiatives valued at over Rs. 44,545 crore. During the same review, he praised the success of "Operation Indravati," the recent evacuation of Indian nationals from Haiti, as a shining example of India's self-reliance in defence.
The review was part of the 44th PRAGATI meeting, a platform designed to cut through red tape and ensure timely, coordinated execution of key government plans.
Focus on Infrastructure and Growth
The nine projects under review span across 12 states and union territories, covering vital sectors like railways, roads, power, petroleum, and natural gas. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for government departments to work together seamlessly to resolve any bottlenecks holding up progress.
He specifically instructed officials to make full use of the PM GatiShakti portal, a digital platform that helps in integrated planning and coordination. The goal is to ensure that these large-scale projects, which are critical for India's economic growth and public convenience, are finished on schedule. One of the key projects discussed was the third railway line between Hatia and Bondamunda in Jharkhand, aimed at boosting regional connectivity.
Showcasing India's Strength Abroad
Shifting focus from domestic development to international crisis response, PM Modi lauded "Operation Indravati." He highlighted how the Indian Air Force's C-17 aircraft was instrumental in safely bringing Indian citizens home from the turmoil in Haiti.
He celebrated this as a testament to Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), showcasing India's growing capability to conduct complex missions using its own defence resources. The Prime Minister also recalled other successful evacuation efforts, including "Operation Ganga" from Ukraine, "Operation Kaveri" from Sudan, and "Operation Ajay" from Israel, reinforcing India's commitment to the safety of its citizens anywhere in the world.
Since its inception, the PRAGATI platform has reviewed 351 projects with a total cost of approximately Rs. 17.54 lakh crore, playing a vital role in driving national development.
