Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The social media spread of fake news has risen significantly with the increasing disputes between India and Pakistan. The government has not taken this matter lightly and believes that any form of information as such could lead to misconceptions, panic or even some type of risk during this very sensitive period.

PIB Looks Into The Matter of Viral Misinformation

The PIB (Press Information Bureau) has fact checked and tried to put a stop to the viral posts and videos. Some of these are:

A picture circulating the internet claimed the Government told the public to shut off their location services. PIB rejected this claim.

Old videos showcasing soldiers running away crying during a skirmish was covered by PIB. They clarified this had no relation to current matters or the Indian Army.

Al Jazeera covered claiming there was 10 blasts near Jamu and Kashmir srinagar. PIB quoted this as fake news.

Members of PIB ignored the claims that came forward regarding the explosion on Jaipur airport.

Why Social Media Complaints are Negative for Society

During nationwide stressful fake information can prove to be dangerous in terms of misguided public, panic agitiation, and even screening the civilization law and order that can prove chaos. Gloomy sensational posts are made with the aim of amass attention and misuse the pandemonium.

How to Check Facts about News Before Trusting or Spreading It  

To keep yourself and those around you safe, follow these guidelines:  

Verify the source: Only trust reputable news agencies or documents from government websites.  

Check for detailed government announcements: One-line government messages are rarely accurate.  

Check other sources: Seek out multiple credible sources. Accurate news is usually corroborated by trusted sources.  

Be skeptical of anything that is only available on social media: These sources usually contain altered or fabricated content.
