The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Sunday that it had identified a surface-to-surface missile launched from Iran, which was heading towards southern Israel. The IDF’s aerial defense systems successfully tracked the projectile, and it reportedly fell outside of Israeli territory. This incident is a new and separate development from the massive drone and missile barrage launched by Iran over the weekend.
The event underscores the extremely volatile situation in the region. There is no ceasefire in effect. The claims of a truce, which circulated widely online, originated from a fake post made by a parody account impersonating Donald Trump.
