The Kiwis lead 1-0 in the series of five T20 matches. New Zealand defeated Pakistan after restricting them to a mere 91 runs in 18.4 overs. NZ subsequently completed the chase in 10.1 overs, losing only one wicket. Following New Zealand's victory over Pakistan, skipper Michael Bracewell shared his thoughts on the match during the post-match presentation. He extolled the crowd and said it was challenging to control Kyle Jamieson who was just about to bowl his fourth over. Bracewell believed that New Zealand could have further minimised Pakistan’s total if he had allowed Jamieson to bowl his fourth over.

"It was a wonderful day with an excellent crowd. In front of them were super difficult for them (Pakistan) and they couldn't recover. Had to hold Kyle back for the 4th over, he was ready and at the top of his mark, it was difficult to keep them off the attack,” he said, “Maybe we could have restricted them to a lesser score but it’s always a challenge to rotate the bowlers around, especially in shorter formats." New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell.

During the post-match ceremony, Kyle Jamieson, the player of the match, shared his thoughts about the game. In his words, it felt good to come back home and the conditions for bowling were relaxing. He commended his teammates, noting that they possess great depth and these conditions are easily manipulated to their liking. He also complimented his partner in the powerplay, Jacob Duffy, along with Zakary Foulkes.

“It was nice to be back on home soil, favourable conditions, myself and Duff, we'll take these conditions and it was nice to cash in. There’s plans for…” Kyle Jamieson said.

The fierce bowling of pacers Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson on Sunday meant that a new look Pakistan, led by Salman Agha, had to try a lot harder to start their new era of fearless cricket, and they lost the first T20I by nine wickets. The visitors’ side also included three newcomers – Hasan Nawaz, and Abdul Samad, along with pace bowler Mohammed Ali. All three scored less than ten runs.
