110431801Uttarakhand UCC Live-in Rules: Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law can be implemented in Uttarakhand by the end of 2024. It is being finalized right now. After the implementation of UCC, many online facilities will also be started in the state. It is being said that after the implementation of UCC in the state, the rules of live-in relationship will be strictly implemented.

According to a report, after the UCC was passed by the Assembly in Uttarakhand and it got the President’s approval, work is now underway to implement it finally. For this, a panel is working under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of the state. It is finalizing its rules. It has also come to light that after the implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand, couples living in live-in relationships will have to register online. This will save them from having to visit government offices again and again. Marriages can also be registered online in the state. 

There might be a fine

After the implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand, if the couples living in live-in relationship do not get themselves registered within a month, then they can be fined ₹ 10,000 or jailed for three months. Apart from this, if they fail to do so for three months, then they can be fined ₹ 25,000 or jailed for 6 months.

Permission has to be taken from parents 

Apart from this, information about live-in relationship will also be sent to the parents of such couples between the age of 18-21. State Chief Secretary Shatrughan Singh said that we want to make it easier for people to complete the formalities through online mode. However, this process is difficult as government employees need to be trained in this matter.

It is being told that the Dhami government of Uttarakhand brought the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law in the assembly in February 2024. From here it was passed by majority. In this law, uniform laws have been made for all religions regarding issues like marriage, divorce, inheritance and live-in. Uttarakhand will become the first state in independent India to implement UCC.
