Kathmandu : Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has announced that an inquiry will be held into the Darbar massacre that took place 22 years ago. He made this announcement at the party office of CPN (Maoist Center) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Prachanda says that the truth of the Darbar massacre has not been revealed. He said that previous major murders in the country would also be probed.
On June 1, 2001, there was a massacre at Narayanhiti Darbar in Nepal. The then King Virendra Shah, Queen Aishwarya and all the family members were killed in this massacre. A total of 9 people died in this incident.
The committee constituted to investigate the incident had submitted a report that the then Crown Prince Dipendra had committed suicide by killing 8 people including his parents. The Nepali public has been doubting this report.
