This is the reason why 23 political parties and an independent MP have jointly sent a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice (CJI) Surya Kant.
The letter raises questions about the role of the Election Commission and several important issues related to the elections. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh shared this information on the social media platform X. He said that the opposition parties are completely united.
The decision was taken in a meeting held in June
Regarding this letter, Jairam Ramesh stated that on June 8, 2026, a large meeting of leaders of the "India Janbandhan" was held. Twenty-one political parties and one independent MP participated in this meeting. It was decided at that meeting that a letter would be written to the Chief Justice regarding the functioning of the Election Commission and the "Special Initial Review" (SIR) process.
In such a situation, the support of opposition parties has increased further. According to reports, a total of 23 political parties and one independent MP have signed this final letter, sent on Tuesday.
