Ketan Agarwal Case: Police Reveal Shocking 'Shoelace Signal' Used by Siya Goyal to Trigger Fatal Cliff Push at Lohagad Fort
In a chilling twist to the ongoing investigation into the murder of 25-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, local police have exposed a highly calculated, pre-arranged signalling system used by his fiancée, Siya Goyal. Investigators allege that Goyal used a specific physical cue to alert her alleged lover and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary, to push Agarwal into a deep gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
According to senior investigators, the masterminded plan required Goyal to abruptly sit down near the cliff's edge under the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces. This seemingly innocent action served as the green light for Chaudhary, who had been stealthily tracking the couple up the fort, to launch the fatal attack from behind.
The Lethal Signal Was Masterminded to Protect Siya
The Lonavala Rural Police revealed that the bizarre signal was intentionally selected to ensure Goyal was at a safe distance when the crime occurred. "The signal was chosen deliberately so that Goyal would remain completely out of the victim’s reach during the fatal push. They planned it keeping her physical safety in mind," an official stated.
Criminal investigators believe that the duo heavily feared a natural survival instinct. They anticipated that if Goyal were standing next to Agarwal, he might instinctively grab her as they fell, dragging her down the cliff with him. By forcing her to sit down or bend over, the co-conspirators ensured she remained completely safe.
Hoodies and Scooters: How Chetan Chaudhary Eluded Detection
The investigation has also brought to light the meticulous tactics Chetan Chaudhary used to avoid tracking on the day of the incident. Police claim Chaudhary deliberately skipped travelling by car, choosing instead to ride a scooter for nearly 90 kilometres from Pune to Lohagad Fort to leave zero footprint at highway toll plazas.
"He travelled all the way to the fort on a low-profile scooter because he feared a car's license plate would be instantly logged at digital toll booths. We have successfully traced and seized the scooter," an investigating officer confirmed.
Furthermore, cyber and local police found that Chaudhary attempted to confuse eyewitnesses and CCTV cameras by altering his clothing. He allegedly climbed the crowded fort wearing a heavy hoodie, stripped it off to reveal a basic black T-shirt right before executing the crime, and then immediately threw the hoodie back on while escaping the vicinity on his scooter back to Pune.
Police Reconstruct Cliff Push Using a Dummy at Lohagad Fort
In a significant legal step forward on Sunday, a heavy police contingent escorted Siya Goyal back to the exact location at Lohagad Fort to conduct a comprehensive crime-scene reconstruction. Utilising a lifelike dummy, forensic experts and officers recreated the exact mechanics of the fatal push to solidify the chronological sequence of events.
The simulation corroborated a disturbing finding: the accused had conducted a full reconnaissance "practice run" at the fort days before the murder to scout the most isolated, unguarded drops. Authorities are currently interrogating the duo to locate where else they practised the routine before finalising the Lohagad spot.
Remand Set to Expire as Police Demand Extended Custody
With the initial police custody of both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary expiring on Monday, the prosecution is prepared to move the local court to seek an extended remand for deeper interrogation.
This follows a gruelling weekend of investigations in which local police called in Goyal’s parents, Pravin and Puja, along with her brother Sahil, to corroborate timelines, investigate potential financial motives, and untangle the digital footprints left on the family's seized devices.
