Putting an end to persistent political speculation, senior Congress leader and General Secretary KC Venugopal has categorically clarified that Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will spearhead the opposition INDIA bloc in the upcoming 2029 general elections. Addressing the media in Thrissur, Venugopal firmly dismissed reports suggesting that Tamil Nadu actor-politician and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief C. Joseph Vijay would be projected as the prime ministerial face of the opposition alliance, emphasizing that no such proposals or demands have been raised by the regional party.

Urging political commentators and media outlets to avoid generating unnecessary confusion, Venugopal stressed that Rahul Gandhi remains the undisputed leader of the coalition. He pointed out that Gandhi's nationwide campaigns addressing core socio-economic concerns—such as youth employment, agricultural distress, and student rights—have garnered overwhelming public support across the country.
