₹35 Crore Bribe Plot: Case Filed Against Senthil Balaji’s Brother for Allegedly Attempting to Topple TVK Government

Post

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The investigation began after TVK MLA N. Ilaiyaraaja filed a formal complaint, alleging that he was subjected to persistent offers and intimidation tactics intended to force him to quit the ruling party. According to police, the conspiracy was aimed at destabilizing the administration led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Investigators claim that one of the five individuals recently arrested, identified as Naresh, confessed during interrogation that he approached the MLA specifically at the behest of Ashok Kumar and Senthil Balaji.

Five Arrested as Investigation Widens

Chennai police have already taken five suspects into custody in connection with this alleged conspiracy to topple the government. Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a forensic analysis of electronic evidence, including call detail records (CDRs) and digital communications, to substantiate the claims of high-stakes monetary promises made during illicit meetings. Based on initial findings and testimonies, police have invoked four sections of the law against Ashok Kumar, including significant provisions under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A Volatile Political Landscape

This incident comes at a time of extreme political scrutiny in Tamil Nadu. Since Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay formed the government with the support of Congress and alliance partners, the administration has seen its legislative strength grow as several AIADMK members crossed the floor to join the TVK. However, the opposition, led by DMK President MK Stalin, continues to question the stability of the current mandate. Stalin has repeatedly forecasted that the state could face fresh assembly elections, a narrative that investigators believe may have provided the backdrop for this alleged poaching attempt. Police investigations remain ongoing as authorities look to map out the full extent of this operation and determine if other high-profile figures were involved in the attempt to undermine the elected government.
