Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the Andaman Sea on Sunday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life from the tremor.

The NCS, India's official agency for monitoring seismic activity, reported that the event occurred at approximately 8:05 AM. The earthquake's epicenter was located at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers beneath the seabed. Shallow earthquakes like this one can sometimes be felt more distinctly on nearby landmasses, but the intensity of this tremor was not severe enough to cause alarm.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are situated in a highly active seismic zone, known as the Alpide-Himalayan belt. The region frequently experiences tremors due to the complex tectonic plate boundary between the Indian Plate and the Burma Plate. As a result, earthquakes of this magnitude are not uncommon.

Authorities confirmed that there was no tsunami warning issued following the event, and normalcy prevails in the region.
