Malaysian model Lishalliny Kanaran sexually assaulted: Lishalliny Kanaran, a Malaysian model, has accused a temple priest of sexual assault. According to the woman, the alleged incident took place at the Mariamman Temple in Sepang city of Malaysia. Lishalliny has now openly informed about it. She has shared the entire story on her Instagram account. Lishalliny has also been 'Miss Grand Malaysia 2021'.
In her shared post, she said that she was not very religious, so she did not have complete knowledge of worship. When she started going to the temple, a priest in the temple always gave her information about the rituals.
The priest asked me to meet him after the prayer
According to the model, the incident took place on Saturday, June 21, during which Lishalini's mother was in India. So she went to the temple alone that day. Lishalini Kanaran wrote in an Instagram post, "That day, when I was doing puja, when I was praying, he (the priest) came to me and told me that he had some holy water and a Raksha Sutra, a blessing to tie for me. He asked me to meet him after the prayers."
He further wrote that “Being a Saturday, the temple was crowded. So he was the only one to receive the blessings and perform the rituals. The priest asked him to wait. After waiting for about an hour and a half, the priest asked him to follow him. “He took the holy water and the string and walked towards the office. I followed him, but still I was not feeling well, I was feeling a little uneasy.”

Hesitantly, Lishalini went to the priest's office. According to her, there the priest mixed a strong-smelling water into the holy water and said that it was brought from India and was not given to common people.
According to the model, the priest repeatedly sprayed perfumed water on her face, due to which she was unable to open her eyes. Then the priest asked Lishalini to lift her suit, when Lishalini refused, the priest angrily said that her clothes were too tight and sprayed water again.
“Suddenly, he grabbed my head and kept mumbling something while touching me. Then without explanation, he put his hand inside my blouse, inside my bra, and started touching me inappropriately. He said it would be a ‘blessing’ if I did ‘this’ to him because he serves God. My mind knew everything was wrong at that moment, yet I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. I was frozen, I still don’t understand why this happened.”
The priest sexually assaulted me and I could not do anything
She further wrote, “What hurts me the most is that I go everywhere alone. Work, meetings, events, even parties, and not once has anyone touched me like that. But the one place I thought I would find solace, where I was looking for a connection to something bigger, this happened. In a temple. That betrayal hurts the deepest. I won’t go into much detail. But that priest sexually assaulted me and I could do nothing.”

After the incident, Lishalini was in shock for many days that this happened to me in a temple. She told that she was so upset that she kept crying for many nights. Lishalini could not tell anyone about this incident, nor did she have the courage to complain to the police. Finally, she gathered courage and told her mother about the entire incident on July 4. Her mother informed her father and both brothers about this. After this, a complaint was made to the police.
The model also alleged that the investigating officer also threatened her and said that if she disclosed this to the public, she would be considered guilty. Lishalini alleged that the temple administration is trying to save the accused priest. However, the police is searching for the priest.
