A strange case has surfaced from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where 22-year-old Mohammed Azim found out that he was tricked into marrying his bride’s 45-year-old mother during the nikah ceremony.

As per reports, Azim was to marry Mantasha, a 21-year-old woman hailing from Fazalpur Kankerkhera. His elder brother Nadeem and his sister in law Shaida, who is Mantasha’s maternal aunt had arranged the marriage.

Azim's Alarming Experience During The Wedding

Azim reported that during the wedding, he noticed something peculiar when the maulvi started calling the bride “Tahira.” Azim was shocked to learn that the woman he had assumed was Mantasha turned out to be her mother.

"Honestly, I was left speechless. They apparently tried to get me to marry the mother," said Azim in his statement to the authorities.

Allegations of Coercion and Forensic Threats

Upon declining the surprise wife, Azim alleged that his own brother and sister in law coerced him into accepting the bride by saying they would register a false rape case against him. To avoid the legal hassle he went home, but later sought help from the police.

Investigation by Police Has Started

Azim has lodged a complaint with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Meerut. SSP Dr. Vipin Tada affirmed that the complaint has been received and a complete inquiry is underway. “On the basis of the findings from the inquiry, actions will be taken as deemed fit,” he mentioned.
