Get ready for a unique celebration of Shardiya Navratri in 2025, as the festival will span for ten days instead of the usual nine. This rare occurrence is being seen as a highly auspicious sign.

The festival dedicated to Goddess Durga will kick off on Monday, September 22, 2025, and will conclude on Thursday, October 2, 2025, with Vijayadashami Dussehra.

So, Why the Extra Day?

The reason for the extended celebration lies in the Hindu lunar calendar. One of the lunar days, or tithis, is set to last longer, covering two consecutive days. While a shortened Navratri is often considered inauspicious, an extension like this is believed to signal prosperity and well-being for the times to come. Adding to the positive omens, it is said that Goddess Durga's arrival will be on an elephant, which is also a symbol of abundance and happiness.

Key Dates and Timings

The festival begins with the sacred ritual of Ghatasthapana, or Kalash Sthapana, on the first day. This is when a pot is installed, symbolizing the presence and invocation of the goddess.
