There is good news for taxpayers as The Central Board of Direct Taxes has announced additional relief regarding income tax return submissions. Due to some technical issues, CPC Bangalore was able to validate a good number of ITRs, which are later deemed to be invalid. This announcement will provide some relief to taxpayers.

What is mentioned in the CBDT circular?

On Monday, CBDT has issued a circular mandating that ITRs submitted electronically until March 31, 2024, because of some loophole, can currently be unvalidated. All taxpayers would be notified regarding the details of the ITRs by March 31, 2026.

This will be beneficial for taxpayers as they will be able to claim the refunds along with the applicable interest. The circular does specify that refund will not be issued in case the PAN is not linked with the Aadhaar.

All stakeholders concerning the ITR submissions have been instructed by the CBDT to follow the updates that have been provided in the circular.

Deadline for tax submissions

Someone who is filing ITR for the assessment year 2025, the window to submit returns is preferentially available. Along with the reopening, many of the existing features have been enhanced including the capital gains which augur the maximum taxpayers to take a glance at the amended slab rates to the old ones.
