Major action against fake insurance gang in UP: Property worth 11 crore seized, main mastermind Omkareshwar Mishra tightened:

The action of Sambhal police and administration has been intensified against the inter-state gang which was embezzling insurance claim money through fake insurance policies and now, apart from the main kingpin of this gang, Omkareshwar Mishra, the illegally acquired property worth about Rs 11 crore of Babrala resident Sachin and his two other brothers will be confiscated under the Gangster Act.

Based on the court order, joint police and revenue teams will be engaged in action today in Barabanki and Varanasi, while a team will depart tomorrow to confiscate the house in Noida. As scheduled, the confiscation of Sachin and his brothers' house and land in Barabanki will begin today at 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, police and revenue teams have already departed Varanasi to confiscate the property of Omkareshwar Mishra, the main gang leader. Property linked to the gang has also been identified in Noida, and action will be taken tomorrow. Additional Superintendent of Police Anukriti Sharma stated that the illegally acquired property of the four accused, organized and illegal, is being confiscated under the Gangster Act, and the police have obtained the necessary court orders for this purpose.

Simultaneous action in Babrala, Varanasi and Noida

It is worth noting that this entire gang was exposed on the night of January 18, 2025, when the investigation started unfolding with the seizure of a black Scorpio. After this, in the action taken in different districts, it came to light that this gang was active in 12 states and was systematically usurping the claim amount by getting insurance policies done through fake documents.

The investigation also revealed that the gang's links were not limited to insurance fraud only, but were also found to be connected with cyber gangs and other financial fraud networks. Cases have been registered against the gang in several police stations of the district as well as in the neighbouring districts. Till now, more than 64 accused have been arrested and sent to jail in this case, although most of them are out on bail.
