On Monday, Maharashtra deputy chief minister and finance minister, Ajit Pawar, also delivered the first complete Budget for the Mahayuti 2.0 government.
Pawar, while presenting his 11th Budget speech, said that the new industrial policy of the state is likely to fetch an investment of Rs 20 lakh crore and generate 50 lakh employment opportunities.
Important announcements made by Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra Budget 2025-26 are:
* A third airport for Mumbai is proposed to be set up near Vadhvan port, which will also have a bullet train station to Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The port is expected to be ready by 2030.
* Projects amounting to Rs 64,000 crore for decongesting Mumbai traffic.
* Soon to be introduced night landing facility at Shirdi airport.
* Linking Metro from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
* Next month, starting domestic flights at Navi Mumbai International Airport. Almost 85% work is done and trials were successful.
* Financial assistance to be given to boat riders for safe transport from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island.
* Ladki Bahin scheme will be provided Rs 36,000 crore in 2025-26.
* Second phase of Pune Metro set with a grant proposal of Rs 9,897 crore.
