Uttar Pradesh is reeling under an intense and unrelenting heatwave, with cities like Prayagraj, Agra, Varanasi, and Lucknow recording scorching temperatures well above 45°C (113°F). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for many parts of the state. The extreme heat has severely impacted daily life, leading to increased demand for electricity, water shortages in some areas, and widespread health advisories urging people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours.
2. Political Tensions Rise with Akhilesh Yadav's Remarks
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has created a stir with his recent comments in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, which is the home district of religious preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri (Bageshwar Baba). Yadav took a sharp jibe at "new industrialist babas," claiming they charge exorbitant fees like ₹50 lakh for sermons, unlike traditional saints. This is being widely seen as a direct criticism of Shastri and highlights the ongoing political commentary on the role of influential religious figures.
