Telugu cinema is mourning the loss of an industry veteran. Actor Kota Srinivas Rao expired at 83 years of age. He died of a prolonged illness at his home in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. It is tragic that only two days ago he celebrated his 83rd birthday and now he has said goodbye to this world forever.

What caused the actor’s death?

As per reports, Kota Srinivas Rao was suffering from age-related health issues for some time and succumbed to them on Sunday. His passing is a shock to all who knew him.

The chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu has also showed sympathy over the death of actor Kota Srinivas Rao. He put out a post on X saying, The death of famous actor Kota Srinivas Rao who won the hearts of cinema audience with his versatile roles is extremely sad. Also, His artistic contribution and the roles played by him in the field of cinema and theater in almost four decades will remain unforgettable.

“The memorable characters and villainous roles he performed will continue to resonate with the Telugu audiences. This is a remarkable loss to Telugu cinema. During the public service, he won as an MLA from Vijayawada in 1999. I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family’”

Worked across various languages

Kota Srinivasa Rao was born in 1942 in Kankipadu, Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. His film career began with Pranam Khareedu in 1978. Over the span of four decades, he acted in over 750 films in different languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi. He played all kinds of characters throughout his career. He earned the people’s love with his extraordinary performance. The death of Kota Srinivasa Rao has been a shock not only to his fans, but also the industry.

He received Padma Shri award

He received Padma Shri award in 2015 due to his immense contribution to Indian cinema. Besides, he was awarded many other recognitions too.

In addition, he has pursued a career in politics as well. He was also a BJP MLA from Vijayawada East Assembly from 1999 until 2004. The veteran actor's death has caused an industry-wide mourning in the Telugu film industry. Fellow actors and fans are paying tribute, recalling him with tears in their eyes.
