Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Kamal Haasan's most recent release, 'Thug Life', has performed poorly at the box office during its opening weekend. This can be attributed to lackluster marketing efforts and poor reviews. As reported by Sacnilk, the film earned 36.52 crore nett in India after four days of screening, falling short of the 50 crore mark, alongside negative reviews.
This marks one of the actor’s most disappointing openings in the past five years. The film has been receiving backlash for failing to offer what was promised to the audience.
The Tamil version of the film generated the most revenue, while the other language dubs contributed very little.
Kamal Haasan has stated that Kannada is a derivative of Tamil and as a result, has banned the film in Karnataka.
This statement has warranted a mixed reception for his latest film. In Haasan’s recent releases, Indian 2 grossed 69.15 crore net in 3 days and was also termed a box office disappointment. Vikram (2022), on the other hand, had a strong performance releasing with 110.8 crore net in 3 days.
Thug Life has recorded troubling figures in regard to its commercial viability, which is significantly lower than the figure posted by its competitors.
Cast, Crew & Reception
Shooting for the film is complete with the full cast including Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Nasser. The technical crew is as solid as the rest with music from themusic of AR Rahman, camera work from Ravi K Chandran, and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
