Suspense crime, Digital Desk : With the date set for Thug Life coming out, Kamal Haasan opened up about his work with Silambarasan TR aka Simbu, during the time they worked together on Mani Ratnam’s project. This gangster drama is set to be released in theatres on June 5, 2025, and it also marks reunion of Kamal Hassan and Mani Ratnam after their long break of 30 years from the memorable film Nayakan released in 1987.

Kamal Recalls Lighthearted Moment With Simbu on Set

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kamal Haasan nicely remembered a funny moment with Simbu while filming. “People tell younger actors they’re working with a legend. I try to take that pressure off,” he added. Kamal also explained how he tried to give Simbu confidence to go full out. In reply, Simbu quipped, “Sir, don’t take me lightly just because I’m new. You better do your job well.”  

Legacy, Mentorship, and Industry Evolution  

Addressing the topic of legacy and shift of epochs in the film industry, Kamal Haasan pointed out his endeavors on supporting upcoming filmmakers. “The next generation will rise higher, standing on my shoulders. I received this support from legends before me, and now it’s my turn to give back.”  

Star-Studded Cast and Release Build-Up  

Thug Life features ensemble cast like Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Rohit Saraf.

With only a few weeks remaining before its premiere, the film is already generating huge hype. The spectacular release of the audio is set for May 24, while the trailer is due to be unveiled on May 17, 2025. Owing to the cast and director’s reputation, Thug Life looks to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
