Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In Hinduism, Amavasya (the new moon) has a particular importance as a day set aside to honor the ancestors. Shradh and Pind Daan rituals to help ancestors attain peace can be performed on or after the Jyeshtha Amavasya which will be observed on May 26, 2025. Even in the absence of a Pandit, there are some rituals one can perform at home in order to earn the favors of the departed souls and ancestors shraddhams. Amavasya is the new moon phase in a lunar month in Hindu calendar.

Amavasya Tithi: 26th May, 2025 (Start): 12:11 PM
Amavasya Tithi: 27th May, 2025 (End) 08.31 AM
Udaya Tithi: 26th May, 2025 (Celebration Date as per Udaya Tithi)
Jyeshtha Amavasya Pind Daan
Pind daan is preferably done invoking Sun God as The witness to the offering. Giving offerings is best done with the Sun regarded as the observer. So the devotees have to go down to the river or any holy water area and standing there look at the Sun. Then they should take about handful of mixture of barley, jaggery and rice. While standing salute the Sun and make offering to that mixture saying 'suk smarane' in remembrance meaning shout their name and body give the gift for peace of soul to the Sun.
Mandatory Pind Daan Offering Essentials
Like in other remembrance activities, repeat the offering rite of Shradh 11 times. The following materials are required for immersion:
Ritualistic sweet boondi
Raw milk
Dried ginger
Rice laddus
Amlas
Unbleached thread
Also offer Deepdaan, Tilak, and uphold the rest of the commands Akshat, Coconut, flowers, and sweets.
Observance of Cleanliness While Performing Purity Rituals
Pure water and traditional garments must be maintained at all times. A dhoti, for example, must be made of cotton without any stitching to qualify as ‘pure’ during the ritual to comply with Hindu law. This helps fulfill the specific rite correctly and appeases the soul of ancestors guiding the living.
