Northern Railway Extends Operation of 10 Pairs of Special Trains Connecting Bihar and Jharkhand to Delhi
In a major relief for thousands of daily commuters, holidaymakers, and pilgrims traveling across northern India, the Northern Railway has officially announced the extension of 10 pairs of special trains connecting key destinations in Bihar and Jharkhand to the national capital, Delhi. Prompted by persistently high passenger demand, heavy seasonal rush, and the ongoing festive fervor of the holy Sawan Mela, railway authorities have decided to keep these special corridors operational throughout August and September 2026, ensuring seamless connectivity and smoother journey bookings for travelers.
Major Routes Benefited: Barauni, Darbhanga, Purnia, Saharsa, and Dhanbad Services
According to official notifications released by the railway administration, the extension covers several high-traffic routes that regularly experience heavy congestion. Key services including the Barauni-New Delhi, Darbhanga-New Delhi, Purnia Court-Anand Vihar Terminal, Saharsa-Anand Vihar Terminal, and Dhanbad-Shakur Basti special trains will continue to serve passengers without interruption. This strategic move aims to ease ticket booking woes and provide confirmed berths for families traveling between North Bihar, Jharkhand, and Delhi during peak travel windows.
Extended Schedule and Train Timings
Under the revised operational framework, the service period for several crucial trains has been significantly prolonged. For instance, Train No. 02563/02564 Barauni-New Delhi Daily Special and Train No. 02569/02570 Darbhanga-New Delhi Daily Special have been extended to run until August 31 and September 1, 2026, respectively. Similar trip extensions have been granted to the Purnea Court, Saharsa, and Dhanbad special lines to accommodate the surge in passenger volume.
No Changes to Existing Routes and Stoppages
To ensure zero confusion among travelers, the railway administration has clarified that the timings, scheduled stoppages, operating routes, and overall coach compositions for all 10 pairs of trains will remain completely unchanged during this extended phase. Passengers are advised to verify their journey details and book tickets in advance through official railway portals to secure a hassle-free travel experience.
