Keshav Maurya's '125 Days of Employment' initiative halts rural migration in Balrampur, creating a source of local livelihood
Significant social and economic transformation is evident in the Balrampur district—located in the Terai region—thanks to the on-ground implementation of initiatives led by Keshav Prasad Maurya. Villagers who once had to migrate to major cities and other states in search of employment now enjoy guaranteed livelihood security within their own gram panchayats. Continuous monitoring and transparent functioning by the district administration have strengthened the rural economy and created new employment opportunities at the local level.
The scheme's success on the ground in Balrampur district is clearly highlighted by the data. The district administration has issued a total of 1,85,238 job cards so far. Of these, 1,13,454 job cards fall into the fully active category. Through these job cards, 1,23,202 active workers across the district are directly benefiting by participating in various development projects.
The active workforce in Balrampur district includes 52,819 women. Access to regular work near their homes and transparent wages has not only boosted their self-esteem and social standing but has also enabled them to meet expenses related to family nutrition, their children's regular education, and primary healthcare.
