Eastern Railway Boosts Connectivity for Shravani Fair: Itwari-Madhupur Special Trains to Run Additional Trips
To ensure smooth travel and accommodate the massive surge of pilgrims during the holy months of Sawan and Bhado, the railway administration has announced a major passenger-friendly decision. Keeping in view the heavy rush and long waiting lists on regular express routes, Eastern Railway has officially approved two additional trips for the Itwari-Madhupur-Itwari Shravani Mela special train. This initiative is designed to provide seamless connectivity for thousands of Lord Shiva devotees, known as Kanwariyas, traveling to offer holy water at the world-famous Baba Vaidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
Convenient Schedule for Devotees Traveling from Central India
The operation of these special services will significantly benefit travelers journeying from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and neighboring regions, while also easing commute pressures across the Jamui, Jhajha, Simultala, and Madhupur rail corridors. According to official schedules released by the Asansol and Nagpur divisions of Eastern Railway, Train No. 08895 (Itwari-Madhupur Shravani Mela Special) will depart from Itwari Junction on August 18 and August 25. On the return leg, Train No. 08896 (Madhupur-Itwari Special) will leave Madhupur Junction on August 19 and August 26, following its pre-determined route, stoppages, and timetable.
Massive Relief for Pilgrims and Local Commuters
During the peak pilgrimage season, millions of devout travelers collect holy water from the Ganges at Sultanganj to undertake the sacred journey to Baba Vaidyanath Dham and Baba Basukinath. During this period, regular mail and express trains on the main line experience unprecedented overcrowding, making daily commutes challenging. The addition of these extra trips by Eastern Railway offers vital relief not only to long-distance pilgrims coming from Central India but also to local daily commuters navigating the Jamui and Simultala sections, ensuring a safer and more organized travel experience.
How to Book Tickets and Check Schedules
Railway authorities have confirmed that ticket booking for these special trains is now live across computerized reservation centers and online portals. Passengers can secure their bookings and verify detailed coach compositions, timings, and halts through the official IRCTC website, mobile apps, or enquiry counters at their nearest railway stations. Travelers are strongly advised to utilize authorized railway channels for all reservations to ensure a hassle-free journey.
