Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The Madhya Pradesh Minister of Tribal Affairs, Vijay Shah, has been severely criticized by the Jabalpur High Court for passing derogatory remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. In suo motu proceedings, the bench directed the police to file a case against Shah.
“Language of the Gutters” – Court’s Sharp Reprimand
Justices Atul Sreedharan and Anuradha Shukla of the division bench called these comments by the minister “language of the gutters.” It attacks not merely a person. It assails the Indian Army’s military values of discipline and sacrifice. The court described the comments as capable of propelling fragmentary sentiments separatist and breach the constitutional design of oneness.
Judges Cite Violation of Constitutional Morality
The High Court maintained that Vijay Shah’s statements are misleading “dangerous, especially if taken as acts of targeted offense on behalf of a specific faith provable by sections of law such as, but not limited to, strong ones.” It focused on identity steeped in dispatching accusations based on religion and the defense of national unity.
The Controversial Statement
In an event of culture in Mhow, Shah presumed the Colonel Sofiya Qureshi was placed in a certain capacity for purposes of retaliation along community lines. Some aspects of his comments pertained to revenge that angered a lot of politicians as well military personnel.
Political and Social Backlash
Opposition leaders and army veterans expressed vehement outrage at the comments made. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has Shah’s immediate resignation, alleging he breached national dignity and values.
Apology Issued Following Shots From Morarka
With the court’s direction, Shah was compelled to conform and issued an apology. Shah expressed his deep regret, “As a daughter of this nation, I am deeply ashamed as is my mother who happens to be social. I apologize to all whom I have offended. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi has transcended the frontiers of social service to the country.”
