The mega auction of IPL 2025 will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24th and 25th November this month. In this mega auction, many star players including Rishabh Pant will be in focus. Recently, when all the teams announced their retention list, Rishabh Pant’s name was not on the list of Delhi Capitals. This made it clear that Delhi has released Pant. Many people were surprised by this decision of Delhi Capitals. Fans were also angry with this move in Delhi and expressed their displeasure on social media. Now a big revelation has happened in this matter.

Star Sports shared a video before the IPL mega auction in which legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was seen talking about the possibility of wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant returning to Delhi Capitals. In this video, Gavaskar is saying that when a player has to be retained, there is a lot of talk between the franchise and the player about the salary. The equations of the auction are different. We don’t know how it will happen. But he believes that the Delhi team would like to buy Rishabh Pant again. Many times at the time of retention, there is a talk between the franchise and the player about the fees. There may be some differences there. Rishabh Pant’s reply came shortly after this video of Sunil Gavaskar was posted on social media. Replying to the video, Rishabh Pant wrote that he can say with confidence that his retention was not about money.

Rishabh Pant has been with Delhi Capitals since his first season in IPL i.e. 2016. Even after being injured in a road accident in 2022, the Delhi team retained him. However, Delhi released Pant before IPL 2025. Ignoring their captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel.
